Guy's New Gas Turbine Page

Have you ever sold something only to realise about 3 seconds later it was a mistake? That is how I felt after deciding to sell my Super Reaper/Wren 54 Mk1. It has taken me a couple of years to pluck up the courage to mention this to the lady wife. Fearing the rolling pin, I used the tried and tested method of suggesting importing an American car for $15,000 and the new Wren 54 Mk3 and plane suddenly became a bargain!

Wren just happened to have a 10% off deal for Christmas and are very persuasive so a small box arrived with lots of bits in it the next day. The Mk3 is so different compared to my old Mk1. I thought I would just take a look in the box and before I knew it it was assembled and the neighbours woke up to the sounds of a gas turbine on Boxing Day. No complaints from the small crowd it attracted!

Wren suggested the Wholesale Planes Falcon 120 as a good model and they had a money off deal as well! So that arrived too. Overall the model seems good value and certainly looks the part. There are lots of helpful (and unhelpful) threads about the conversion on the net. As with all ARTF models make sure the glue joints are checked and re-inforced as needed.

At time of writing most of the plane is complete and ready to go. Graupner air retracts are fitted and working. Wren has fired up in the airframe and runs fine just need to balance the airframe with the batteries before tidying up the wiring. Best news of the day is that it fits (just) fully assembled in my MPV so no time lost at the flying field. Got new fire extinguisher, fuel can, starter battery etc etc...
The plane has now flown on 2 occasions and is a pleasure to fly. Take a look at the short videos on the video page. Enough said!
