Flying Out of Published Licensed Hours at Bembridge Airport.

1) All ‘out of hours’ use of the airfield for any activity must be by prior permission (PP) only. PP will only be granted by BNG Air Traffic or, in exceptional circumstances, the licensee. Blanket PP can be granted to regular users and residents but this does not exclude them from the responsibility of complying with the following.

2) Wherever practical all non flying users must have a serviceable radio tuned to the Bembridge frequency of 123.25. Non radio aircraft or helicopters are not accepted.

3) All arriving or departing aircraft and helicopters will give radio calls as if the airfield was open and operational but in this case advise ‘Bembridge Traffic’ of their intentions. Circuit heights and patterns must be as those promulgated for the licensed operation.

4) All arriving aircraft and helicopters will employ a normal circuit and only use the concrete runway. Exit from the runway must be at one of the recognized exit points onto an established taxiway and hence to the parking area.

5) All departing aircraft and helicopters will move from their parking space by the shortest possible safe route to one of the taxiways, thereafter all taxying/hovering will only be permitted on or over the established taxiways.

6) All non flying users of the airfield must wherever possible keep clear of runways, taxiways and aircraft parking areas.

7) All model flying is under the control of the ‘Hornets’ and they must comply with the requirements in their flying manual.

8) The gliding club will be exempt from the above while operating tugs and gliders on the south side of the airfield and not using the concrete runway, radio calls will be made as per the Gliding Club Manual. If flying on the north side or on the power circuits then the gliding club are required to comply with the above wherever practical.

9) Runway 23 is not available, other than in an emergency, for out of hours flying.

10) All pilots using the field must be aware that other activities may be going on in other parts of the airfield and it is the pilot’s responsibility to maintain safe separation.
