Kessock Models Long EZ

ARTF model of the Burt Rutan design

Bought from www.kessockmodels.com - Advertise on web, E-bay and have a shop in Weymouth. Mark is very helpful and he directly imports a range of models most of which I have had a close look at.

I have a soft spot for this model as I have run a canard turbine and 2 visit Bembridge Airport on occasions. Build quality is very good, the model is light and takes a .46 2 stroke of a .52 four stroke ( my choice) No rudders but a steerable nose leg. Nice glass nose and cowl. Large cockpit area for detail if you want. Kit is very complete including a large lump of weight for the nose. It would be good to replace this with a retracting nose leg as the full size.

It flies very well indeed. Capable of a fair aerobatic performance as long as you don't need rudders. So how did I bash it on its maiden flight then?? Be careful and balance it with a FULL TANK of fuel. It becomes more nose heavy as the fuel burns off and so more stable. Could be used as a different trainer as its ground handling is excellent. Don't balance it as in the instructions then add 6oz fuel - it doesn't fly very well and performs spectacular tip stalls.... Take a look at www.rcuniverse.com for details on the electric conversion. It is an ideal model for this as it is lighter and there is no balance issue. This model flies really well - recommended !
