Seagull Models Sea Fury ARTF
ARTF model of the fast fighter with flaps and retracts. 66" wingspan for .91 - 1.2 cu in four strokes.
As with other Seagull Models I looked at the rather poor box graphics for some time before taking a look inside. Once the box is open you are in a different world. the striking thing is the size of the cowl which I can get my whole head in ( I tried! ) The rest of the plane is very well made and finished and the wing has built in flaps and metal framed retracts. I had to buy it.
The plane went together very well with no problems. The cowl swallowed up my TT.91 four stroke with no openings other than for the needle valve and exhaust - all on the bottom. C of G was as on the plan and I fitted a large battery in the front rather than add weight. A 1.20 would not need this. Once assembled it is huge and very imposing. It was a couple of months before I plucked up the courage to fly it!

To cut a long story short I did not need to be worried about its flying qualities. It is light for this type of plane, takes off fine, flies lovely and comes in like a trainer with the flaps down. First flights gave problems with the retract pushrod which bent preventing them retracting. These were stiffened with brass tube epoxied over the wire. I also braized up the U/C legs as I don't like bolt together items. I also angled the retract units slightly to try to stop it nosing over on our patch. The .91 is excellent for it and you just have to see it doing a fast low pass into a large roll !!
I love this plane and at between £120 - £150 I think it is a bargain.
